My Good Neighbor

Horse in the woods of Alleghany Mountain in Southwestern Virginia

I love the horses in the field behind my house. I think that they are my favorite neighbors and I wish they would come up to visit more often. So I’m out shooting for a texture pack that I’m going to post soon (rust!) when I hear the horses come up to the ridge. I only had one lens because I was on a pretty specific task. Luckily it was the Pentax DA 100/2.8 Macro, which is a darn fine macro lens but also a bit more flexible than an old macro use to be.

Speaking of texture packs, there are tons of exciting things up ahead, but first I have to get through to graduation so I’m going to post this grab shot and run. The focus isn’t spot on, but I was balancing the baby on my left hip when I took it so I’ll let it pass. I like it well enough. He had been in the stroller when I yanked him out to run up the hill and shoot the horses.

Hm. I wonder what my other neighbors think, me flailing about with a big camera and a fat baby. Maybe I should just stick to the horses.
